Antonio López nació en Puerto Rico (11/02/1943) A la edad de siete años se mudó a Nueva York con su familia. Sus padres influyeron en él para aplicar su talento artístico a la moda. Fue a la Escuela Superior de Arte y el diseño y el Fashion Institute of Technology. Empezó a trabajar para el Women´s Wear Daily y el New York Times. En 1969 se trasladó a París y comenzó a trabajar con Karl Lagerfeld. Los temas de López: el deseo homosexual y la raza. Las ilustraciones de este ilustrador importante aparecierón en muchas publícaciones como Vogue, Haper´s Bazar , Elle. Murió en 1987.

The illustrations of this major illustrator appeared in many pubblications as Vogue, Harper´s Bazar, Elle. He died in 1987.

ReplyDeleteFunnily that Lopez' themes are "queer desire and race": I once was in Gender Studies and these issues often come across, and the difficulty of being non-white and queer at the same time, especially in machismo Latino male cultures. Good he set an example and created beautiful art
